Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden On NBB

Good Charlotte Rocker Joel Madden Guest Stars on Nickelodeon’s “The Naked Brothers Band,” Premiering February 16th at 8:30pm.

joelmadden.jpgHot on the heels of its season-two premiere ratings success, Nickelodeon’s hit series, The Naked Brothers Band keeps on rocking! The tween sensations are about to come face-to-face with ultimate rocker Joel Madden of Good Charlotte when he guest appears on an upcoming episode of the popular TEENick series, premiering Saturday, February 16th, at 8:30pm. The half-hour episode titled, “Talk Show,” stars rockers, buddies and real-life brothers Nat Wolff and Alex Wolff who do “double duty” as celebrity guest talk show hosts on a television talk show, along with celebrity guest Joel Madden. The episode also includes the debut of the band’s latest song, “Proof of My Love,” which is one of 14 new, original songs rolling-out throughout the second season.

In the episode titled “Talk Show,” Nat and Alex have been asked to fill in as celebrity talk show hosts and interview Madden on the program. Their excitement is tempered by Nat’s reaction to some harsh reviews from a music critic. As it turns out the critic is notorious for cruel album reviews and is actually a frustrated singer/songwriter herself! Nat, Alex and Joel team up to help her find her musical groove while jamming together on the band’s latest song, “Proof of My Love.” All is going well until Alex discovers that Joel has developed feelings for his one and only love — Jesse!

“I grew up watching Nickelodeon as a kid and am so excited to have the chance to guest star in The Naked Brothers Band,” said Joel Madden. “Being in Good Charlotte with my brother as my musical partner echoes a similarity to Nat and Alex that I am thrilled to be a part of.”

Nickelodeon’s ‘Crush Week’ to Feature Smashing Valentine’s Fare

Romance is in the air during Crush Week on Nickelodeon, February 9-14, and it goes hand-in-hand with programming treats for kids who prefer messy to mushy and smashing to smooching. Hosting a special pre-Valentine’s TEENick Crush Weekend — Saturday & Sunday, February 9-10 (8-10 p.m. & 6-9 p.m.) — direct from Crush Central, Nat Wolff, Miranda Cosgrove and J Boogie will unveil love-themed primetime premieres of iCarly, The Naked Brothers Band, Just Jordan and Zoey 101. They’ll wax romantic in wraparounds including Nick stars’ “crush-fessionals” — and then switch gears to pulverize mystery objects selected by kids at www.nick.com/crush. All of the crushing and crunching will continue weekdays during Crush Hour (5-6 p.m. EST/PST) and culminate on February 14 with a morning-to-night Valentine’s Day marathon.

Crush Week co-host/TEENick headliner Miranda Cosgrove kicks off the fun on Saturday, February 9 (8 p.m. EST/PST) with a brand-new episode of her hit TEENick series iCarly. In “iHate Sam’s Boyfriend,” Carly (Cosgrove) is annoyed when a love-struck Sam (Jennette McCurdy) gives short shrift to the web show. But when Sam adopts her new “boyfriend’s” awful ideas for iCarly, Carly and Freddie (Nathan Kress) spring into action to end their friend’s one-sided romance. At 8:30 p.m., Crush Week co-host/TEENick star Nat Wolff wrestles with a dating dilemma in The Naked Brothers Band premiere of “Three is Enough,” as he gets roped into a double date with Cooper (Cooper Pillot) and winds up inviting his crush Rosalina (Allie DiMeco).

Between TEENick shows it’s crush or be crushed, as Nat, Miranda and J Boogie rev up on Saturday for even bigger doings on Sunday. They’ll give viewers the inside scoop on their own secret crushes and dream dates; present Nick Star Crush-fessionals from the likes of iCarly’s Nathan Kress, Jennette McCurdy and Jerry Trainor; Zoey 101’s Victoria Justice and Chris Massey and The Naked Brothers Band ’s Alex Wolff — and crush the objects of kids’ choosing. Nick’s hosts will segue from a cozy nook to an outdoor crushing zone replete with smashed cars, monster trucks, steamrollers and mystery crushable objects ranging from a watermelon and a chocolate cake to a guitar and a piano, a slime-filled toilet bowl, a dishwasher full of dishes, a teacher’s desk, a remote-controlled car and much more. By logging onto nick.com, kids may cast their vote for which items to be crushed on-air.

Second Season of ‘Naked Brothers’ Starts Tonight!

nbb.jpgAll middle-aged folks who grumble that good clean fun has been drained out of rock music can have their faith restored by watching the second-season premiere tonight of Nickelodeon’s “The Naked Brothers Band.”

Even the name is for fun. The Naked Brothers, who are fully clothed, are Nat Wolff, 13, and Alex Wolff, 10. They lead a teen band that sings the kind of melodic pop songs that have been a gold mine for their colleagues like Hannah Montana.

Tonight’s premiere introduces two of those songs, both written and sung by Nat Wolff. The first, “Mystery Girl,” could have come out of the Brill Building 45 years ago. The second, “I Don’t Want to Go to School,” isn’t the Sex Pistols, but has a reassuring dash of rock rebellion.

The music, however, is just one element of the “Naked Brothers” series, a “mockumentary” on the lives of these young rockers.

Most of the show is about dramas, crises and great moments with their friends.

Nat, for instance, has a thing for an older woman: Rosalina, who’s in the band and who has moved up to high school, while Nat’s still in middle school. He invites her to a middle school party where the band is going to play, but then it turns out it’s the same night as the high-school prom. When she gets a prom invitation, Nat assumes she’d rather go to the prom, so he sort of pushes her into doing that, only, omigod, that isn’t what she really wanted - so she gets like really annoyed at him and well, you get the idea. Adolescent lives have a lot of run-on sentences in them.

The show is also packed with side jokes, including a teacher who’s outraged that someone cleaned up the grafitti in the boys’ restroom. That was part of the school’s cultural legacy, he says, and when a couple of kids confess, he sends them to the restroom with markers to re-create it.

“The Naked Brothers Band” captures the tone and rhythm of adolescence, giving it street cred for the young and demystifying it for the old.

Besides, you can dance to it.
